Blurred Reality – 6th Season Announced

What happens when reality is not what it seems? When doubt disrupts the reality by obscuring reality, calling into question what we think we know? And what of dreams? And what is a blurred reality?

We will attempt to answer these questions during our sixth season, a season of blurred reality, with two of Shakespeare’s classics – A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Hamlet.

You may know we are attempting to perform the whole Shakespeare canon, all 37 (we’re not sure about Cardenio yet.) To do this, we have to choose carefully because there are plays we love, plays we hate (I know…) and plays we either don’t care about or don’t know much about. And almost always, no matter what our opinions were before we started, we come out the other side with a greater appreciation and love of that piece – even Taming of the Shrew!

So, we think long and hard about what shows to do, and the melancholy Dane and the faeries keep coming up. These are such rich plays, filled with amazing characters, beautiful language, and compelling stories. Thanks to a dear friend, we have a cut script for Hamlet, which was my biggest hurdle. And Midsummer is just fun! So, while there was hesitation at first, we are all in on this season and looking forward to sharing this with you!

We have talked of another gala event in the winter, and since last year was our 5th anniversary, we’ll either hold a belated 5th anniversary party or a 6th anniversary party. Stay tuned!

Once again, we’ll be in Fremont Park in early June and mid-August with our free Shakespeare performances. Specific dates to come (once we finalize our contracts with the park.) Tickets will be available closer to show dates.

We have one sad announcement. Hot Italian, our favorite post-show hangout, has closed its doors. Rumors are flying about what will go in there next, so keep an eye out! I’m crossing my fingers for a ramen or dim sum place.
